Sample Page #1
Here is the template to build a simple and effective "Tess Designs" website. This page will fully expand to fit any screen resolution and is compatible with all major browsers (IE, Netscape, AOL, etc).
PROJECT PLAN
COSTS: You have already saved the domain name www.tessdesigns.com for five-years when Ronnie recently visited "Network Solutions Inc." For most businesses, the additional costs of ownership of a web site are site design & development fees, any periodic maintenance fees, and annual hosting fees. I've got you covered on the first two but for the third - hosting fees - we need to pay "Twisted Pair Group" $119.88 for one-year of hosting ($9.99/month). Hosting pays for the special computers (called web servers) that actually have the HTML pages and images ready to "serve" when anyone types tessdesigns.com into their browser. The check is payable to Twisted~Pair Group, Ltd. (my old consulting firm that still operates) and I will get you the mailing address.
DESIGN: We can easily change the logo's font face and color to match your business card logo. With some additional effort we can change all the colors you see on this page.
TEXT CONTENT: If it is not you, we need to identify the author of the content for the site. Web content tends to be more succinct than other mediums. Each content area will be accessed under the "MENU" in the right-hand column. Minimally we should have an introduction to the site (a "home page"), the gallery with images, an events calendar and a contact page. If you have any press clippings, we could have a "Press" or "Reviews" page too. You can get started by writing a few things: 1) introduction to the site - i.e. just think about what you briefly want to say to a first time visitor who comes here just after you gave them your new business card at a show, 2) list of items you want to show and how to describe them 3) list of upcoming shows - including the December show information 4) any press releases or reviews you've received, maybe client testimonials 5) how you want to be contacted. Let's discuss.
IMAGE CONTENT: The most time consuming portion of the project will be to get the jewelry images in the Gallery. I believe that since your typical buyer would never purchase this type of merchandise off the web, we don't need to have all the products listed. We want to show just enough information to have the customer contact you. My guess is this might be 18 to 24 pieces - let's discuss further.
